Why You Need an Education Law Solicitor

If you work for an educational establishment then you're bound to need an education law solicitor at some point.

Here's why.

1. Schools, colleges and universities need to be just as accountable as other organisations, and private companies, so you'll want to make sure that everything is managed properly and complies with all relevant laws.

2. Healthy and safety is perhaps more important in an educational environment than in other workplaces, due to the ages of the pupils and students. You'll need to make sure that your working practices, and out of school activities meet the necessary legislations and law, so that you minimise the risk of accidents and incidents to staff and students in and out of the classroom.

3. You'll want to make sure that your pupil and staff discipline policies are up to date and that unruly pupils are dealt with properly and in accordance with the relevant policies.

4. Although you work in the education sector, you need to know that employment laws still apply. Any instances of discrimination need to be taken seriously and any issues with staff contracts or working hours will need to dealt with efficiently and effectively. An employment solicitor may be able to assist you in addition to an education law solicitor.

5. You'll need to make sure that your recruitment policies are up to date, and that they are not discriminatory. You might need to carry out further checks and investigations on potential new staff before you can employ them, and so will need to make sure that this is done legally.

6. As you will be dealing with a lot of paperwork, such as staff contracts and school policies, you'll want to make sure that these are reviewed regularly so that any advances in technology, or changes to staff duties are incorporated. For example, you'll need to make sure that your staff and students are aware of the implications of the potential effects of breaking IT or privacy policies.

7. You might be dealing with different suppliers and contracts, and so will want to make sure that you get the best deal for you. An education law solicitor can prove invaluable so that you're not wasting time and resources on finding out whether the contract is legally binding, and what it really means to you.

8. Some educational establishments are reliant on donations or funding. All contributions and payments need to be properly processed and everything will need to be above board and legal for auditing and accounting purposes.

9. Estate management is an important aspect of modern educational work, and so your duties might involve negotiate the buying or selling of land, or need to be aware of the importance of planning, and dealing with the board of governors. You might also want to know how to make better use of the space that is already available to the school, college or university.

10. Perhaps you're considering a new building for your educational establishment, and want to know how to get the planning permission you need and meet the relevant environmental and construction laws that will affect you. An education law solicitor will be able to share their expertise, skills and knowledge in order to help you.

Tips on Getting Into Prestigious Law Schools

Getting into prestigious law schools has never been easy, even when the demand for law school admission was much less than it is today. In today's highly competitive legal education market, getting into a prestigious law school is generally reserved for only the best and brightest. Here's a couple tips that will help you get into the prestigious law school of your dreams.

First, start preparing yourself for the law school admission process as soon as possible. This means working on your grades from the first day of undergraduate school with the understanding that they are one of the primary components of your law school application. You should also start preparing for the Law School Admission Test, or LSAT, years in advance. If you don't have year, start preparing now. The LSAT is not designed to test your knowledge so much as it is designed to test your mastery of the reasoning strategies required to perform well. With enough practice, you can learn to excel on the LSAT regardless of your intellect or general test-taking ability. Preparation will definitely help you get into a prestigious law school.

The next thing you should do if you want to get into a prestigious law school is to figure out what makes you unique and develop a strategy to convey that uniqueness as a selling point in your law school application. Law schools seek to maintain diversity in their student body and may set aside a spot for you if you add something to the mix that nobody else does. For example, if you're a Mormon and you want to go to Notre Dame law school, don't hesitate to point out that you are a Mormon and emphasize why, despite the fact you're not Catholic, you think Notre Dame would be a great place for you.

If you think a prestigious law school is for you, don't hesitate to invest the time and money required to make your law school application the best it can be. Getting into law school, whether it is prestigious or not, is a difficult endeavor, and you don't want to miss taking advantage of every opportunity out there.

The Law of Association

We hear a lot these days about "the law of attraction", but here I want to talk to you about what I call the law of association.

One of the principles of this law is that you become like those with whom you associate with. Human beings are contagious. The attitude, mannerisms, emotional reaction patterns, desires and even the thought patterns of those with whom you associate rub off on you, to some extent. The more time you spend with someone, the more like them you must become.

You also take on some of what I call "the destiny patterns" of your associates. In other words, you begin attracting to your life what they attract.

Now, the law of association begins in your head. It begins with whom you think about, and how you think about them. If you think about highly intelligent people, you take on the qualities of their intelligence. If you think about people making poor choices, you take on the qualities of their choice-making.

Think of people prospering and you begin prospering with them. Think of impoverished people and you begin experiencing more of the impoverished conditions they experience in your mind.

The problem with this powerful law of association is that if your emotions rule your thinking, you lose control of whom you associate with and the qualities you take on. For instance, if you feel angry with your spouse and think about him doing something that causes you to think of how stupid he is, you are now associating with a person who makes unintelligent choices.

No one is responsible for how you think about them. When you feel angry with someone, you feel tempted to think about that person in unbecoming ways. But you become like whomever you think about. You are responsible for your thinking, no one else is.

So the power of forgiveness comes very much into play here. Holding onto grudges means that you hold onto people, in your mind, who conduct themselves in ways that you do not approve of. This increasingly influences you, however, to conduct yourself similarly.

Think of people who are achieving the results you want to achieve, demonstrating abilities, talents, gifts, strength that you want to demonstrate. That is how to utilize the law of association to be and do what you want.

Pay very close attention to who you are thinking about, and to how you are thinking about them. If you feel angry or hurt, the odds are that you are thinking of people behaving in ways you do not want to behave in, heading for painful consequences you do not want to land in.

There is another important aspect of the law of association. It is based on the law of manifestation which states that you bring about what you think about. Applied to the law of association, we can also say that you bring about whom you think about.

What this means is that you attract in your physical world individuals similar to those you spend time with in your mental world. This is why doing much complaining and criticizing is really of no use. You talk about what you think about, so complaining means that you are mentally associating with people behaving in ways you don't want, and this draws to you more people who behave that way.

Think only about people you want to actually be with, people who can help you, people who value your help.
